My Bio

On a cold Saturday in May, 2006, Nick Berard received his Bachelors degree in Marketing from Washington State University. He planned to change the world and create something spectacular...although he didn't know exactly how or what that would look like. With a freshly minted Marketing degree, he did what any early 20-something did, he got a job as a financial planner. Nick was initiated into a door knocking, street pounding, and cold-calling. As he worked for two years helping clients wrap their arms around their lives, he realized investing in higher education was something he needed to invest in. After two years as a financial planner, Nick took a job with a commercial finance company and started attended night school for his MBA. After graduating from Seattle University with an MBA, he worked through all aspects of a global finance company from sales, marketing, credit, admin, and collections. He finished his finance career as the North American Used Equipment Manager responsible for the valuation of a multi-billion dollar portfolio, thousands of pieces of transportation equipment across the US & Canada, and helped manage the used equipment sales team. Little did Nick realize, his education in the world of finance would help serve his clients in the new real estate career. As Nick climbed the corporate ladder, he & his wife, Laurel, realized Nick was spending up to three hours commuting each day. After the last year of this commute & limited time with his first baby, Laurel asked Nick if he would consider quitting his job & relocating to her hometown of Bellingham, WA where she would support the family while Nick started his Real Estate Business...It took Nick 3 seconds to say, "where do I sign up?!" On his birthday in March, 2014, Nick gave his two week notice to the finance company with plans to relocate north with his family to Bellingham, WA. After studying a couple weeks and passing the exam, Nick called all of the local real estate companies in Bellingham. Of the 7 offices he contacted, two said they weren't accepting "brand new agents". Keller Williams was the first and last office I interviewed. The rest of my story is unfolding daily as I continue delivering world-class client service and help my client's achieve their goals of home ownership and help coach & train agents in my office.
